Umpires are a vital component of our sport, without them the game cannot be played! Whether you are a seasoned umpire or are looking at getting into running our game for the first time, we have a spot for you.

Hockey Victoria is proud to boast a wide variety of educational programs for umpires as well as a comprehensive umpire pathway that allows all umpires to learn, collaborate, and ultimately grow the game of hockey.

Start Your Umpiring Journey with Umpire Education!

Beginning your umpire journey is comprised of 2 components:

1. Contact your local Club Umpire Coordinator and enquire about opportunities to get involved with local competitions. If you are not sure of who/where your local club is, you can find one here.

2. Complete Hockey Australia's Umpire Accreditation Programs. Read the tabs below to see what Education programs are on offer!

The Foundation Support Umpire is the first accreditation in the umpiring framework and is aimed at providing prospective umpires with an introduction to the game's fundamental rules.

This FREE accreditation is completed entirely online and can be done in the comfort of your own home. It will take approximately 2 hours to complete, and you receive your certificate at the end!

To enrol in this accreditation, follow the step-by-step guide here.

This accreditation is completed in two parts. The first is an online course that can be completed at any time. Then the second is your assessment, which can be undertaken whilst umpiring any level of full-field or Hockey 5s game.
