2026 Hockey One Match Day Volunteers & Ball Patrol

HC Melbourne and Melbourne Cobras are looking for enthusiastic volunteers and experienced ball patrol members to help deliver an outstanding match day experience during the 2026 Hockey One season.
Volunteers and ball patrol appointments will be rostered based on availability, and successful applicants may be allocated across both HC Melbourne and Melbourne Cobras home matches.
HC Melbourne Home Matches
- Venue: State Netball Hockey Centre
- Saturday, 17 October – vs Perth Thunderstruck
- First match: 1:00pm
- Second match: 2:45pm
- Ball Patrol arrival: 12:00pm
- Finish: approximately 4:30pm
- Friday, 6 November – vs Tassie Tigers
- First match: 6:30pm
- Second match: 8:15pm
- Ball Patrol arrival: 5:30pm
- Finish: approximately 10:00pm
- Friday, 13 November – vs NSW Pride
- First match: 6:30pm
- Second match: 8:15pm
- Ball Patrol arrival: 5:30pm
- Finish: approximately 10:00pm
Melbourne Cobras Home Matches
- Venue: State Netball Hockey Centre
- Sunday, 11 October – vs NSW Pride
- First match: 2:30pm
- Second match: 4:15pm
- Ball Patrol arrival: 1:30pm
- Finish: approximately 6:00pm
- Saturday, 17 October – vs Canberra Chill
- First match: 5:00pm
- Second match: 6:45pm
- Ball Patrol arrival: 4:00pm
- Finish: approximately 8:30pm
- Sunday, 25 October – vs HC Melbourne
- First match: 5:00pm
- Second match: 6:45pm
- Ball Patrol arrival: 4:00pm
- Finish: approximately 8:30pm
- Venue: Bendigo Hockey Centre
- Sunday, 8 November - vs Adelaide Fire
- First match: 1:00pm
- Second match: 2:45pm
- Ball Patrol arrival: 12:00pm
- Finish: approximately 4:00pm
Hockey Victoria is unable to provide travel or accommodation for match day appointments.
Expressions of Interest
Expressions of interest for both Ball Patrol and Volunteers close at 11:59pm on Saturday, 30 August.

Eligibility
Applicants must:

Be 14 years of age or older by the first match.

Have previous ball patrol experience (e.g. Premier League, previous Hockey One seasons or equivalent).

Submitting an expression of interest does not guarantee appointment. If applications exceed available positions, appointments will be based on previous experience.
Successful Ball Patrol Members Receive

Free entry on appointed match days.

One complimentary ticket for a parent or guardian.

Official Ball Patrol uniform including shirt, cap and socks.
Premier League Grand Finals Opportunity
Hockey Victoria is also seeking Ball Patrol members for the Premier League Grand Finals on Sunday, 14 September at Melbourne Sports Centres Parkville.

You can indicate your availability for these matches within the application form. Assisting at the Premier League Grand Finals will be viewed favourably when allocating Ball Patrol positions for Hockey One.

Each Hockey One home round features both a Men's and Women's match, and we are looking for volunteers to assist across a variety of roles, including:
- Spectator Services and Stewards
- Venue Operations Support
- Merchandise Sales
- Ball Patrol Assistant
- Ticketing (Scanning and Box Office Distribution)
- Hookin2Hockey Kids Support
Volunteer Benefits
Volunteers will receive:
- Free entry on all rostered match days.
- Snacks and water during their shift.
- An official HC Melbourne Volunteer shirt.
- Volunteers who assist at two or more match days will also receive one item of HC Melbourne merchandise of their choice from the available range.
Eligibility
Volunteers must:
- Be 16 years of age or older.
- If aged 18 years or over, hold a current Working with Children Check, VIT registration or equivalent.
