Week 3 of ICC and JIC has wrapped

Published Wed 18 Feb 2026

Week 3 of the Indoor Club Championships and Junior Indoor Challenge saw a slight change in one of the tournaments. This year the Under 18 Boys combined with the Open Men Division 2 to create the Open Men + Under 18 Indoor Club Championships. Friday night saw the new event kick off as well as the Under 16 Mixed Junior Indoor Challenge.

Open Men + Under 18

There was a total of 18 matches played across the weekend at Parkville and with 9 goals scored in 6 matches, and the leading goal scorer going to Daniel Retief from Yarra Hockey Club.

The finals series worked a little different for the combined event. The first final was played between the two team who originally entered as Open Men Division 2 teams, Southern United Hockey Club and PEGS Hockey Club. The first time the two teams played off against each other saw Southern United Hockey Club come out victorious winning 3-0. The final saw the results of the previous matchup mirrored with PEGS Hockey Club coming out victorious with Max Cole scoring all three goals.

The next set of finals were the remaining four Under 18 teams playing off against each other. The first final was a third place playoff between 3rd of the Pool and 4th of the Pool; whilst the second final saw the big dance with the two top teams after all the regular rounds.

The third place final saw Mentone Hockey Club against Camberwell Hockey Club. In a fair spirited game seeing no cards to any players, the game ended in a 1-1 draw with Camberwell Hockey Club’s Oscar Norquay scoring just his second goal of the tournament and Enzi Waters scoring Mentone Hockey Club’s goal.

The grand final saw Waverley Hockey Club against a strong Yarra Hockey Club. The first time these two would play off against each other was the first match of the tournament seeing Waverley’s Zachary Lim score in the final 90 seconds of the match to claim a 2-1 victory. The Final proved no difference with a close contest that saw plenty of goals and tough contest. The first half saw Waverley in front 2 to 1 with Bopanna Prince Achandira scoring both and Daniel Retief scoring his first of the match. The second half saw Waverley in front for most of the match until the remaining 3 minutes where Yarra scored 2 quick goals in less than a minute. With less than 45 seconds remaining and scores tied at three goals each, Yarra earn a penalty corner and converted to take the title of Open Men + Under 18 Indoor Club Champions!

The final standings were as follows:
