Podium finishes for both of our teams

Published Tue 02 Dec 2025

Our HCM Men have made history over the weekend, winning back to back One Active Hockey One League titles! Our Women had an incredible season and fought right until the end of the gold medal match. Unfortunately, Perth Thundersticks had the upper hand and sealed the game in the dying minutes.

Proud is an understatement, and we thank the fans for all the support throughout the season! Watching on 7Plus, coming down to the State Hockey Centre or travelling to away games, every part counts. We will be enjoying this one for a while!

WOMEN’S GRAND FINAL

Perth Thundersticks def. HC Melbourne 4–2

Perth Thundersticks completed one of the great Hockey One Finals stories, defeating HC Melbourne to claim back-to-back championships. Entering finals from fourth position, Perth built momentum with every performance and saved their best for the title decider.

Madi Ratcliffe and Liné Malan each scored twice in a commanding attacking display, with Perth’s defensive organisation and swift counterattack proving decisive. Melbourne’s Ash Utri found the net twice for the hosts, but the Thundersticks’ consistency and belief carried them over the line. The victory capped off an incredible tournament for Perth as they proved the doubters wrong delivering one of the all-time underdog stories in the Hockey One competition.

MEN’S GRAND FINAL

HC Melbourne def. Tassie Tigers 3–1

HC Melbourne capped off a superb season with a composed 3–1 win over the Tassie Tigers to secure the men’s championship. Ky Willott struck twice and Nathan Ephraums added another outstanding individual effort as Melbourne controlled key moments with precision and poise.

Tassie’s Sam McCulloch pulled one back for the Tigers, but the home side’s defensive resilience and midfield composure ensured there would be no comeback. The result was a fitting finish to Melbourne’s campaign — a balanced, high-quality team effort that delivered the ultimate reward on home turf to claim back-to-back titles.
