New Regional Zone Developers to strengthen Hockey across Victoria

Published Wed 09 Apr 2025

In an exciting move for the growth and future of hockey in regional Victoria, the appointment of six Regional Zone Developers (RZDs) will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality coach and umpire education across regional Victoria. The newly appointed developers will oversee the education and development of coaches and umpires across 12 Regional Hockey Associations, ensuring that hockey continues to thrive in every corner of Victoria. The Hockey Victoria Regional Coach and Umpire Development Program is backed from multi-year (three) funding through Sport & Recreation Victoria.

Victoria has long been a hub for grassroots hockey, with a passionate community of players, coaches and officials across both metropolitan and regional areas. With the continued growth of the sport, there is an increasing demand for skilled and knowledgeable coaches and umpires who can inspire and guide the next generation.

The role of the Regional Zone Developers will focus on providing education, support, accreditation and resources to coaches and umpires throughout regional Victoria. Each RZD will be assigned to one Regional Zone, working closely with local associations to facilitate workshops, training sessions, and development programs. This will ensure that the standard of coaching and umpiring improves at the grassroots level, creating a stronger foundation for Victoria’s hockey community.

Please join us in congratulating our RZDs on their appointments and welcoming them to the Hockey Victoria team.
