Can we get a drum roll for the March 2025 HCM Hookin2Hockey Club of the Month.... Team Castlemaine!
A massive congratulations to the newly established Team Castlemaine, our March 2025 HCM Hookin2Hockey Club of the Month! In their very first season, following successful Roadshows, they launched a six-week Hookin2Hockey program that attracted a fantastic 22 registered participants, plus an additional 12 through their "Bring a Friend" initiative.
By focusing on creating a fun and welcoming environment, with the support of enthusiastic local teachers and parents as coaching assistants, Team Castlemaine has seen impressive skill development and growing confidence in their young players. They even developed engaging activities like "Battle Boxes" to introduce fundamental skills safely.
Demonstrating strong community engagement, Team Castlemaine retained all their initial players and saw numbers grow throughout March. They are already planning their next program on a grass venue in May, aiming for further growth in both their younger and older age groups.
A heartwarming story saw a new, initially reluctant player, Matilda, quickly embrace the fun of hockey thanks to the support of a fellow participant. This exemplifies the inclusive spirit Team Castlemaine is fostering.
Well done, Team Castlemaine, on an incredible start to building a strong hockey community! We look forward to seeing your continued success.
