HC Melbourne launch Season 5 in style at the MCG

On Friday, 15 August 2025, the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) hosted the inaugural HC Melbourne Season Launch, presented by Project Innovations, marking the start of the 2025 Hockey One campaign. This memorable evening celebrated the 2024 Men’s Premiership victory and set an ambitious tone for the future of HC Melbourne’s Men’s and Women’s teams. Players, sponsors and passionate supporters gathered at the iconic MCG to honour the Black & Gold legacy and unite behind the club’s vision for the season ahead.

The event was a vibrant celebration of HC Melbourne’s achievements and aspirations. Guests enjoyed cocktail canapés, premium beverages and heartfelt tributes to the Men’s team’s 2024 Hockey One Premiership. The event was a celebration of the club’s first title since the league’s inception in 2019 and a proud milestone since the Victorian Vikings’ 2017 win in the former Australian Hockey League (AHL). The evening’s highlight was the 2025 Squad Shirt Presentation, unveiling a stellar roster featuring new signings like Hockeyroos midfielder Beck Greiner, Kookaburras goalkeeper Jed Snowden, Kookaburras striker Ky Willott, and English midfielder Rosie Hope. Head Coaches Jesse Workman and Greg Drake shared inspiring insights, fuelling excitement for the team’s pursuit of finals glory in 2025.

The 2025 HC Melbourne Season Launch shined a spotlight on the club’s remarkable 2024 season, which saw unprecedented home match attendance, the largest social media following in the Hockey One League and record-breaking viewership on 7Plus. The event celebrated the club’s rising prominence and the passionate community driving its success. Special thanks were extended to team partners, including Project Innovations, Deol Car & Truck Rental, Polytan, SA1NT Layers, GAME Clothing, as well as Just Hockey for bringing the engaging ‘Flip it to Win It’ activation to life on the night. The evening also recognised the vital support of over 58 player sponsors who directly empowered our athletes in 2024.
