2026 Stand Out Cup celebrates inclusion and diversity across Victorian Hockey
Published Wed 25 Feb 2026

Thank you to all who attended the 2026 Stand Out Cup (SOC)! Yet again the Victorian Hockey Community has shown their support for the LGBTIQ+ community, inclusion and diversity, and our amazing partners, Proud 2 Play.
Although a wild day of weather, with odd patches of rain and a general tropical like feel, this didn’t stop the good times rolling. As always, our participants and guests went all out in vibrant colours and costumes to generate a beautiful atmosphere of positivity, friendship, and community.
With 42 teams playing across the day, it was great to see the commitment towards changing attitudes, promoting positive language and ensuring that LGBTIQ+ people feel welcome, comfortable and recognised in today’s game.
Thank you to Kade Matthews and the team from Proud 2 Play for being incredible partners and joining us at the SOC once again. The Proud 2 Play team had a strong showing in D Grade finishing 4th.
We’d like to extend out thank you to Hockey Victoria Directors Carina Ford and Mike Trenery for being involved with the SOC as a participant and guest presenter respectively.
We cannot thank Michael, Julia, and the team down at Essendon Hockey enough for the extraordinary hospitality across the whole day. The canteen and BBQ were flowing through the day, and the Essendon teams were dressed up and impressive across the Junior, D and C grade teams.
A huge shout out to all our umpires across the event, as well as Assistant Toiurnamnent Director, Angus Curnow! These superstars are very important component to the SOC, bringing structure to the day, keeping the games flowing, and adding an extra layer of fun to the action-packed day. Without you all, the day would not run!!
Lastly, thank you to Sammy Brown from Focus Pocus and Alex Tyrell from atsportsphotog for capturing the whole SOC. You can check out the full photo album linked further below.
