2025 Women & Girls Breakfast Wrap Up
Published Wed 14 May 2025
The 13th edition of the Women & Girls Breakfast brought together an incredible group of guest speakers to discuss our theme of “Breaking Barriers, Accelerating Action”.
The morning began with a touching story from our MC, Torren Woolley. Encompassing the theme perfectly Torren shared the journey, challenges, and triumphs that her mother faced climbing the ranks to become an international Hockey Official.
Our partners, Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) presented on their work and the importance of supporting the supporter through hosting a PLAY4BCNA Pink Sports Day.
This led into a delightful breakfast with HV Community Guests, Sponsors, Government Officials, and Staff getting to discuss their thoughts on the theme.
BCNA volunteers were present working hard to sell raffle tickets across the morning. There were some very happy winners when the raffle prizes were drawn at the end of the day.
An outstanding Q&A with our keynote guest of the morning, Abbey Holmes, followed the meal. Abbey shared her journey through sport, from a junior netballer to her commentator role with Channel 7 today. Abbey didn’t shy away from sharing the sacrifices, hardships, and challenges she’s faced along the way, but proved to us why a never give up attitude and saying yes to every opportunity can lead to incredible places. As an impending mother, Abbey shared her hopes for the future and wished every mother in the room a happy Mother’s Day!
