Umpire Pathway

Club Umpire Development

The Club Umpire Developer (CUD) Program is in place to support clubs & associations at a community level. The role of the CUD is to be the first point of contact for new and existing umpires & officials within a club or association.

The CUD provides all umpires, players, and club members with valued support to ensure that a club's environment is safe, inclusive, and welcoming.

All appointed CUDs will work closely with our Game Development Manager to:

1. Develop a positive club culture where in which all officials feel supported;

2. Maintain healthy communication with all club stakeholders, create umpire development plans and;

3. Create a positive, safe, and inclusive environments where in which all members can develop a love for the game, for life.

We highly encourage all clubs & associations to appoint a CUD, please see a list of resources relating to the role below:

Performance Umpire Development

The Performance Umpire Developer (PCD) Program is in place to support our high-performance umpires who are involved with FIH & Hockey Australia national tournaments. They provide mentorship, guidance, and training to all of our identified umpires as well as oversee the Performance Umpire Panel.

The Performance Umpire Panel is comprised of officials who have been identified by Hockey Australia for future tournaments and are considered on the pathway.

Supporting our Performance Umpire Developers is our team of Performance Umpire Coaches, who each week support our panel and assist with their holistic development in preparation for national and international competitions.
