2026 Junior State Championships - North East Red Devils Player Nominations

All Zones will be conducting a single selection trial, which must be attended to be considered for selection in the team.

*Nominations for Under 12, Under 14, and 16 teams will strictly close at 5.00pm Wednesday, 15 April 2026.

*Nominations for the Under 18 teams will strictly close at Wednesday, 8 July 2026 at 5.00pm (Wednesday prior to trial date).

Please note that if you are submitting a nomination for multiple children, you can only complete one nomination at a time. After completing the first nomination, you will need to log out (top right corner of the screen) and then log in as the next child to complete their nomination. 

In 2026, the Junior State Championships will be held at the State Netball Hockey Centre Parkville & Footscray Hockey Centre. See below for age group locations & dates:

• Under 12 Boys & Girls Hockey5s - Wednesday, 1^st & Thursday, 2^nd July 2026 at Footscray Hockey Centre 
• Under 14 & Under 16 Boys & Girls - Friday, 3^rd July – Sunday, 5^th July 2026 at State Netball Hockey Centre & Footscray Hockey Centre (teams will play across both venues) 
• Under 18 Boys & Girls - Saturday, 19^th to Monday, 21^st September 2026 at State Netball Hockey Centre

TRIAL INFORMATION

Once nominations close, further detailed information will be emailed to all nominees, including what time to arrive, what to wear and bring etc. by the Zone Coordinator.

Automatic Selection Information for State Team Players

Please take note of the automatic entry information for state team players.

Where a player is entitled to automatic selection into their Zone team and they wish to participate, they MUST still nominate for their Zone team but will not be required to attend the trial.

Nominations Fee

There is a $35 nomination fee to trial for Hockey Victoria Metropolitan Zone teams. This must be paid by credit card when completing this nomination.

Late Nominations

Late Nominations will not be accepted. 

Number of players selected per team

In the Under 14s, 16s and 18s a maximum of 16 players are selected per team. This typically consists of 2 x Goalkeepers and 14 x Field Players or 1 x Goalkeeper and 15 x Field Players.

In the Under 12 teams, a maximum of 10 players will be selected, with a minimum of one Goalkeeper. Should a Zone get in addition of 22 nominations for a gender in the Under 12s, they will be permitted to enter a second Under 12 team for that gender.

Training Schedule

The Zone Coordinator will distribute the training schedule to all selected players. Trainings are typically held on Sundays and there will be a minimum of 8 contact hours and a maximum of 10 contact hours allocated for each team in 2026.

These contact hours are inclusive of training, practice games, and online team bonding/coaching sessions. Goal Keeper specialised sessions run through your Zone are not included within the contact hours listed above.

Trial Feedback

Players (both successful and unsuccessful) will not receive feedback following the trials.

Cost

In 2026, the fee to participate in the JSC in the Under 14, 16 and 18 teams will range between $505 - $535 (plus the nomination fee outlined above). If participating in an Under 12 team, the fee to participate will range between $410 - 440 (plus the nomination fee outlined above). This fee covers the following costs:

• Competition Fee (includes officials payments, pitch hire, staffing, administration, first aid and other event related costs)
• Training program (pitch hire, equipment etc.)
• Coaching & Zone Administration
• 1 x new shirt or GK Smock - every player playing in the 2026 JSC will receive a new shirt regardless of whether you already have one as we have a new uniform supplier. 

PLEASE NOTE - this fee does not include accommodation during the event. That will be the responsibility of the individual to arrange and pay for should they require it.

Payment details will be sent to all players once teams are selected. All players must be financial with Hockey Victoria by the deadline, or HV reserves the right to remove them from the team. 

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Zone can I nominate for?

Players may only nominate for the zone in which the club (or regional association) they represent for junior hockey exists in.

Can I nominate for more than one Zone?

No, players must only nominate for one zone and that must be the Zone that there club sits within.

Can Under 16 players also nominate for the Under 18s?

Only top age Under 16 players are permitted to nominate for the Under 18s (i.e. you must be born in 2010). See more below on year of birth for each respective JSC age group.

What is the minimum age I can be to nominate to trial for my Zone team?

Players must be 10 years of age as of the 31st of December, 2026 to be eligible to participate in the 2026 JSC.

Which age group should I be nominating for?

You are only permitted to nominate for the age group that your year of birth is listed next to below. 

If I cannot attend the trial is there an alternate date?

Unfortunately not, to simplify the selection process only one trial date is available.

If I am currently in an HV Academy do I need to nominate and trial?
Yes, all players wishing to be selected to participate in the JSC must nominate and attend the trial for their relevant Zone team.

PLAYING SHIRT & GK SMOCK SIZING CHARTS

All selected field players will receive a playing shirt as part of their fee to participate and all Goalkeepers will receive a Goalkeeper smock. 

All nominating players will be required to provide the size when they nominate. Once teams are selected, all successful players will receive a link to order all other uniform items. 

Please note that JSC Goalkeeper smocks are a stretchier material and are a slimer fitting garment, so it will be a little tighter than previous versions. Samples have been provided to the Zone Coordinators.
