2026 Junior State Championships - Metro Zone Coach Nominations
Hockey Victoria is currently seeking coaches for its 2026 Metro Zone teams that will participate in the Junior State Championships.

*Metro Coach Nominations for U12s, U14s, & U16s will close depending on Zone Trails. Please see below:

In 2026, the Junior State Championships will be held at the State Netball Hockey Centre Parkville & Footscray Hockey Centre. See below for age group locations & dates:
- Under 12 Boys & Girls Hockey5s - Wednesday, 1st & Thursday, 2nd July 2026 at Footscray Hockey Centre
- Under 14 & Under 16 Boys & Girls - Friday, 3rd July – Sunday, 5th July 2026 at State Netball Hockey Centre & Footscray Hockey Centre (teams will play across both venues)
- Under 18 Boys & Girls - Saturday, 19th to Monday, 21st September 2026 at State Netball Hockey Centre
Coaches will be responsible for the delivery of team training sessions (minimum of 8 contact hours and a maximum of 10 contact hours in 2026) and management of players throughout the 2026 Junior State Championships.
All Zone coaches should at minimum have their Level 1 Coaching Accreditation (or be working towards achieving it in 2026).
It should noted that the Under 12 Hockey 5s teams will only have a head coach as they will consits of a maximum of 10 players per team. All Under 14, Under 16 and Under 18 teams will have a Head Coach and an Assistant Coach.
Coach Gratuity Payments
Head Coach: $550
Assistant Coach: $300
Coaches will be responsible for sourcing their own accommodation, should they require it during the JSC.
Working with Children Check Requirements
All coaches that are 18 years of age or older must hold a valid WWCC or VIT card. If you do not currently hold one, you must apply for one and be approved or you will not be eligible to be appointed.

If you have a WWCC and are yet to link it with Hockey Victoria as an organisation, please do so at your earliest convenience by following these steps:
- Visit http://www.workingwithchildren.vic.gov.au/
- Go to ‘MyCheck Login’
- Log in via ‘Email’ & ‘Password’
- Click ‘Change My Details’ (Located Left Hand Side of Page)
- Locate ‘Organisation Details’
- ‘Add An Organisation’
- Enter the details in relation to the business (Hockey Victoria)
‘Update’
Once this has been updated, Hockey Victoria (HV) will receive the individuals WWCC details in the mail.
Statement by Supplier Form
In order to receive your gratuity payment, you must complete a Statement by Supplier Form each year.

In the section below where we ask for a number of pieces of information, you will find an area where we ask you to upload the completed form.
As Coach Expression of Interest close for their respective date (see above), appointments will be made within approximately a fortnight of that date.
Your Zone Coordinator may be in contact with you to ask for your assistance with the running of trials (which in most cases are on between Sunday, 12 April and Sunday, 19 April 2026).
