2024 Women & Girls Breakfast – “Who are you in sport?”

We are very excited to release the details of the 12th edition of the Hockey Victoria Women & Girls Breakfast in partnership with Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA).

On Friday, 10 May 2024 we’ll lead into Mother’s Day and our Women’s Round with something a little different for the event. This year, we will be hosting a painting session at the St Kilda Town Hall!!

The painting season will allow our guests to get their creative juices flowing and have a little fun to start their Friday morning. We’ll all paint to the theme of the day and be guided through the session by some incredible guests and facilitators.

Don’t worry though, the event will still have its core elements. Networking with the community and guests will kick off the morning, we’ll be joined by BCNA on stage, include guest speakers throughout the day, and have a raffle to be announced at the end of the morning to raise money for BCNA.

Food will still be on offer. However, instead of a sit down meal, we will cater around the space to allow guests to take their food selections back to their tables to maximise their painting session. We’ll also have coffee service on the morning, so you can order a tea or coffee that can be dropped off at your table.

As mentioned in the title, our focus for 2024 is ‘Who are you in Sport?’. We want to shine a light on the incredible players, parents, administration staff, volunteers, coaches, umpires, anyone and everyone that plays such a pivotal role in sport. Hockey in Victoria would not be where it is and will not continue to grow without the outstanding people in our community. Let’s highlight our community and have some fun together as we ask the question ‘this is me, who are you?’ to guide our painting session.

We’ll continue to share more on our guest speakers, the painting session, and the event as we get closer and closer to May 10. Please keep an eye for all our updates over the next few weeks….

MC Announcement

Hockey Victoria is excited to announce our 2024 Women & Girls Breakfast Master of Ceremonies (MC), Holly Bailey. Holly is a trailblazing force in sports and gender equality whose passion for sports started at a young age.

Holly is a former VFLW player, a Harvard graduate, and the visionary behind Play Like A Girl Australia, a groundbreaking organisation dedicated to empowering girls and women through sports. In addition to her role at Play Like a Girl Australia, Holly serves as a board member at both Port Melbourne Football Club and Women, Sport Australia, embodying her commitment to advancing opportunities for women in sports and leadership.

At a young age, Holly grew up trailing her dad to cricket and footy games and wrestling with her big brother. The passion she had for sport continued on from here, where she reached elite levels in netball and football.

This passion grew further when Holly was inspired to take action after recognising the significant barriers facing females in the sporting world. Fueled by this realisation, she founded Play Like a Girl Australia, with a mission to break down barriers and provide girls and women with the tools they need to thrive in sports and leadership roles.

Holly is a dynamic speaker, combining her expertise in sport performance and entrepreneurial spirit, to become a powerful storyteller who has the ability to spark change. Holly shares her personal stories, insights, and practical tips that can inspire and motivate audience to believe in themselves and create positive change in their lives and communities.

As a part of Holly’s service for being our MC at the 2024 Women & Girls Breakfast, a fully funded scholarship for the Play Like A Girl Australia’s Empowered to Lead Program will be awarded to a young female Hockey player/coach in the Hockey Victorian Community. The program offers a five-week online learning experience that runs monthly on a national scale, welcoming females from all sports disciplines and roles to engage in education, empowerment, and connection through sport.

Painting Facilitator

We are delighted to have the amazing Kieren Cochrane down at the 2024 Women & Girls Breakfast. Kieren will be our painting facilitator for the morning, guiding areas of the paint and being there to help guests express themselves onto canvas.

Inspired by the joy of art, music, wine, and a desire for connection, Kieren founded Hills & Spills, Sip & Paint in The Dandenong Ranges in 2023. This passion for art has fostered and grown since Kieren was a small child. Adding onto this, Kieren’s vast professional experience leading large teams at one of Australia’s largest hardware chains, provided an excellent merging point to combine her love of art into a business where she can facilitate small and large groups in a painting session.

Kieren has developed her business into a caring environment that allows individuals and groups to express their artistic flair, whether they are seasoned artists or complete beginners. The sessions generate a vibrant, social atmosphere, encouraging networking, engagement between guests, and creating lasting connections among attendees.

Kieren has a small family, with two young children aged 1 and 3 years old. Their connection with BCNA, and ultimately this breakfast with HV, has come through a passion to volunteer their time and raise funds whilst having a fun and interactive experience.

Check out and book Kieren’s services at the Hills & Spills, Sip & Paint link here!
