The Jillaroos have produced a spectacular first half goalfest to blow away Belarus at the Women’s Junior World Cup in Boston, USA, setting up a 7-0 victory.

The match started perfectly for the Hockeyroos, with Tegan Holcroft and Danielle Schubach scoring within the first five minutes to establish their dominance.

Full of confidence, the Jillaroos continued their all out attack on the Belarus defence, with Olympic Hockeyroo Casey Eastham putting her experience to good use by scoring two first half goals to further extend Australia’s lead.

When Kate Denning and Jill Dwyer also scored at the 16 and 32 minute mark respectively, the match already appeared out of reach for Belarus, with the Jillaroos recording 27 circle penetrations and 13 shots on goal in the first half.

Despite having all the momentum, the Jillaroos couldn’t match the intensity of the first half after half time, only scoring once via another Jill Dwyer field goal at the 45 minute mark.

In contrast, the Jillaroos were forced to fend off seven penalty corner attempts in the second half, which they did successfully.

Hannah Cohen, Bianca Greenshields, Jill Dwyer, Harriet Moore and Georgia Nanscawen were amongst the best players.

The Jillaroos will now await the outcome of the India v USA match to see if they advance to the medal round pools. The USA will need to defeat India by more than seven goals to finish above the Jillaroos on the points table.
