The Greensborough Hockey Club scored big this week as the State Government announced a $181,000 boost to establish a second synthetic pitch at the Greensborough Hockey Centre.
Ben Hartung Hockey Victoria’s CEO, praised the persistence and determination of the Greensborough Hockey Club in their efforts over many years in formulating a partnership with the Nillumbik Shire Council and the Victorian State Government to raise the necessary funds to develop a second synthetic hockey pitch at Plenty Park.
“Projects of this magnitude take several years from inception to implementation and the Greensborough Hockey Club is fortunate to have the project management and business skills of Club President, Adrian Lumb and Business Director, David Fraser”.
“Critical to the success of the project was the on-going support of the local member, Danielle Green, who is proudly the #1 ticket holder at the Club”
“The contribution to the project from the Club members of $350,000 is a testament to the strength of the Club”
“The Greensborough Hockey Club has continued to grow its membership and this positive growth has dictated an expansion of quality facilities”
“Hockey Victoria is pleased that it was able to assist the Greensborough Hockey Club in their negotiations with the Victorian State Government and once again the Minister for Sport, Recreation and Youth Affairs, The Honourable James Merlino, has supported the improvement of hockey facilities in this State. The Nillumbik Shire Council, through supporting the project, have emphasised the importance of providing quality facilities to meet the sporting and recreational needs of the local community”.
