Hockey Victoria’s Regional Roadshow made its first stop in Mildura on Monday, visiting three primary schools in the area.
Day 1 of the Regional Roadshow took Hockey Victoria staff and coaches to Buronga Public School, Wentworth Primary School (over the border) and back to Merbein West Primary School in the afternoon.
All three schools are equipped with fantastic venues to use for the kids to learn some basic hockey skills and then apply them to small game situations. Altona State League 1 player Steve Campbell and Hockey Victoria Development Officer Tom Kneebone impressed the 150+ kids with their skills and enthusiasm to engage the kids in the game.
The feedback from the teachers has been all positive with a general "keep it going just as is, excellent and well organised" message coming from the Merbein West Primary School administration.
Day 2 involved clinics at Mildura West Primary School and Merbein Primary School.
All the students were aged 8-11 years and for many it was their first experience on playing the game. The clinics are being conducted to encourage more local kids into the Sunraysia Hockey Association Hook In2 Hockey program, which commences on Wednesday night February 24 at 6.00pm.
The Regional Roadshow will continue until Friday 19 February.
