As season 2010 draws closer, its not only the players who are working hard in preparation for their season. 

Umpires from accross the state will have opportunities to hone their skills and knowledge in a choice of two Umpiring workshops in March- a Pre-season Rules discussion and a Practical Umpire Training Day.

Pre-Season Rules Discussion

All umpires, are invited to attend a Pre-season Rules discussion workshop which will be presented by Hockey Victoria's High Performance Umpires, Anthony Traill and Elaine Dunk.

An excellent opportunity for umpires of all standards to hear the latest rule interpretations and updates in a question and answer forum.

When: Wednesday 24th March

Practical Umpire Training Day

On Saturday 27th March at the SNHC, a Practical Umpire Training Day will be conducted by Hockey Victoria's elite Umpires, designed to train umpires of all levels in the essential on-field concepts of umpiring.

Whilst using the hockey field as the forum base, umpires will walk with the presenters to strategically placed positions on the pitch discussing and demonstrating umpiring skills including: positioning, flow patterns, spectator and player management and communication with the other umpire.

The morning will finish with a half hour open forum where participants will have the opportunity to hear from the umpire panel of any questions related to umpiring.

Who should attend?
The session is directed towards all umpires of junior or senior level.
Participants will be divided into small groups to ensure that the information is targeted to your relevant umpiring experience.

Cost: $20  included small group facilitation, morning tea and free entry to SNHC
