Hockey Victoria is pleased to announce a partnership with Hockey Zone which will see 20 of the 24 games of the 2013 Men’s Australian Hockey League (AHL) played at the State Netball Centre from Friday, 27 September until Saturday, 5 October streamed live through the Hockey Victoria website www.hockeyvictoria.org.au.
Hockey Victoria CEO, Ben Hartung, said the initiative sets a new standard for national event coverage in Australian hockey.
“Thanks to the great support of the Victorian Government through their Significant Sporting Events Program Hockey Victoria are thrilled to be able to partner with Hockey Zone to live stream 20 of the matches at the 2013 Men’s Australian Hockey League.
“Through this initiative, the domestic and international hockey communities as well as sports enthusiasts will now be able to watch the best players in Australia competing in Hockey Australia’s premier domestic tournament,” Mr Hartung said.
The Minister for Sport and Recreation, Hugh Delahunty MP said he was pleased to see Victorian Government support being used to develop events and helping them reach a larger audience.
“The Victorian Government is proud to invest in events like the Men's Australian Hockey League and the Under 13 Boys National Championships. This is a great opportunity to showcase Victoria's fantastic sports facilities and talent to even more people around Australia.
“I am particularly pleased to see our support has enabled this event to develop and expand its audience, allowing more than those participating and attending the event to be inspired by Australia's best hockey players,” Mr Delahunty said.
Hockey Zone Producer, Paul Mills, said he is pleased to partner with Hockey Victoria to enhance the profile of hockey in Australia.
“We really appreciate the efforts and investments that are being made locally to bring hockey to a national and international audience through live streaming.
“Partnerships such as this are helping Hockey Zone grow and increasing the amount of access people have to hockey through a variety of media,” Mr Mills said.
With national coaches and selectors in attendance at the tournament, it is an important opportunity for the players to showcase their skills and press for team selection in the FIH Junior World Cup which will be held in Delhi from 6-15 December 2013, the FIH World Cup and the Commonwealth Games to be held in 2014.
